We will ask you which surgery you are registered with in case there is a medical emergency or if we were concerned for your safety. However, generally, we wouldn’t contact your doctor or tell anyone else, unless we have your permission.
Prices start from £40. The length of the session, whether it takes place online or face to face, or whether certain specialised counselling is required, will determine the actual price. You are not required to commit to a number of sessions.
Sessions generally last 50 minutes. However, there is research which suggests that longer sessions can be beneficial for some people so these can be arranged. You should bear in mind that, if you are late for a session, it will still end at the scheduled time.
A counsellor will help you reach your own solutions. They will listen, reflect and challenge but won’t give advice or make a diagnosis. Occasionally, they may refer you onto someone else who can offer specialist help.
It is best if you attend on your own. The purpose of counselling is to provide a safe place for you to talk freely about what is going on in your life. All sessions shouls be arranged for a time which enables you to have this personal space.
BACS transfer, ideally 24 hours before your scheduled counselling session. We reserve the right to not proceed with the session if payment is not received in advance.
While we understand that you may be very concerned for your relative/friend, bear in mind that it is really important that they wish to engage in counselling. Being “sent” for counselling rarely works.
If you do not attend or give less than 24 hours’ notice, we will expect you to pay for the booked session. If you miss 2 sessions, we would have to discuss whether counselling is the best option for you.
We use Zoom which is encrypted end to end. We will be speak to you from an office where we cannot be overheard or disturbed, and it is important that you are also in a similarly safe space.
All records are stored securely in line with data protection legislation. Your name will not appear on any paperwork. Your phone number will be stored on a secure phone and will be deleted once counselling has ended.
We would always ask you to discuss any issue with us before making a formal complaint. As individual members of COSCA, we are subject to their Complaints Procedure which can be found here
If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch for an informal discussion.
